Interesting fact : A very colourful butterfly, the painted lady butterfly emerges as an adult and hangs upside down so as to pump blood into its delicate wings, inflating them.
The painted lady has a wingspan of 5 to 9 cm, and can be identified by the black-and-white corners on the orange and black spotted wings. Their diet is comprised of thistle and clover nectar. After becoming adults, they live for only 2-4 weeks. They prefer temperate and tropical areas. The female lays eggs on the leaves of the thistle, mallow, and hollyhock plants.
