Paper Bag

Paper bags, as we know them today have their own share of history as well. Earlier people used to take big containers along whenever they had to buy something from a retail store. Sensing a scope in this field, the first ever machine was invented in the year 1852 by Francis Wolle. He first got it patented in the United States, his own country, and then went on to get it patented in France and England as well. Along with his brother, he started Union Paper Bag Machine Company, the first of its kind in 1869. Margaret Knight, who hailed from Boston, had 22 patents and 90 inventions in her name, as is known to be the inventor of a machine that created square-shaped bottoms of paper bags in 1870. This was a major achievement since there had been others too who had tried similar things to make these bags carry more with more convenience but had failed.
