It was Christmas time. There was so much to do. Mrs. Simons first cleaned and decorated the house. Then the family decorated the Christmas tree. Then Mrs. Simons got busy baking the Christmas pudding. As per the tradition in her family, she put a penny in the pudding. The person who found the penny in the pudding was supposed to have good luck all year. But Mrs. Simons was a forgetful person. So, she put another penny forgetting she had already done so. Later, she added another penny when she put in the cherries, and with the raisins, too! When the Simons family sat down to eat the Christmas pudding, they were all eager to see who would find the lucky penny. But to everyone’s delight, each found one! Everyone knew how forgetful Mother was. So, they all laughed and said, “What a lucky family we are!”
