Perfume Recipe (Creative Chemistry Experiments)

You will need:

  1. Rose petals or petals of
    other flowers that you like
  2. Eucalyptus leaves
  3. Cloves
  4. Orange or lemon tree
    leaves
  5. Mint leaves
  6. Rubbing alcohol (available
    at a chemist)
  7. Small jars and a spoon
  8. Paper towel
  9. Ear-bud

Perfume making is one of the oldest forms of chemistry. Impress your friends by making natural perfumes from these simple ingredients.

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Firstly, mash all the ingredients except cloves into as fine a paste as you can.
  2. Pour some (2 teaspoonfuls) rubbing alcohol into this mixture and crush it some more.
  3. Add 1-2 cloves to the mixture and place it in a sealed tight jar for at
least a week in a warm place.
  4. After a week, remove the mashed flower-remains from the jar and dry it on a paper towel.
  5. Take an ear-bud and dab a bit of the alcohol liquid on your wrist. Wait a few seconds for it to dry before smelling it.

RESULT

The flower petals which you have
placed on the paper towel will have no fragrance left. The rubbing alcohol dissolves the oils in the flowers and plants, and when it comes into
contact with air, the alcohol
dissolves leaving behind the perfume
oil in the jar or on your skin.
