Much softwood branches from the ground and gives it an appearance of fullness. It blooms best in summers. The leaves are oval to oblong. Tubular flowers have five flattened petal-like lobes and appear singly in the upper leaf axils. The flowers come in a wide variety of colours. Some varieties are used as a traditional medicinal plant used to control diabetes, in various regions of the world.
