Peyto Lake

Peyto-Lake

Peyto Lake is a glacier-fed lake located in Banff National Park in the Canadian Rockies. The origin of the Mistaya River, the Peyto Lake is fed water by the Peyto Creek, which drains water from Caldron Lake and Peyton Glacier. Standing at an elevation of 1,860 metres, glacial rock flour flows into the lake during the summer months. This flour gives the lake an unusual bright turquoise colour, which has often been illustrated and photographed, making it a popular tourist destination.
