Phacelia is a herbaceous, non-leguminous flowering plant. The foliage appears ferny, and the flowers are in flat-topped clusters in the shades of purple or occasionally white. Spring and summer-planted phacelia blooms approximately 6-8 weeks after germination. Phacelia is a long-day plant and requires a minimum of 13 hours of daylight to initiate flowering. It flowers from mid-April to early September. The flower is ideal as a cut flower and is loved by bees. It is an excellent source of attraction for lots of insects like lace-wings and ladybirds.
