Going on picnic with family or friends is a real fun. My mother and our neighbour Shalu auntie are picnic people. Shalu auntie has three children and my mother has two.
On the eve of the picnic day, usually Saturday a lot of food items are bought for picnic feast. Shalu auntie’s brother-in-law drives us to the picnic spot in his Tata Safari.
Last time we went to Company Garden. Under a shady tree we sat. Mats were spread in the centre and picnic items dumped on it. We sat in a circle around and started ‘Kho’ game. It was interesting. Then Shalu auntie told jokes. Mummy narrated a story. Neelu sang a song. Rinku recited a poem. Others too presented items. I did mimickry to regale all. Then for a long time we engaged in ‘Antakshari’.
At last we had a great lunch of sandwiches, paranthas, sauce, chutney, apples, guavas and cold drinks. Auntie and mummy sat gossiping. We played around. Five hours just flew away.
