It has a dense, brown waterproof fur; its face is duck-like, with a beaver-like tail, and a otter-like feet. They weigh 0.7-2.4 kg, and measure 43-50 cm in length, and have lived for up to 17 years in captivity. The platypus is a carnivore and feeds on annelid worms, insect’s larvae, freshwater shrimps.
