The first pop-up toaster was invented by Charles Strite in the year 1919. He added a variable timer and springs to the regular toaster so that the toasting bread might not need human attention. There were many innovations and creations that led to the making of a pop-up toaster. Alan MacMasters invented the very first electric bread toaster. The initial electric appliances were all made of iron wiring, which caused it to be hazardous as iron would easily melt. A lot of companies started to produce toasters commer-cially but only a few were successful. After electric toasters, automatic bread turning toasters were hosted by Copeman Electric Stove Company that turned the bread around automatically. The semi-automatic toasters turned off the heating once the bread is toasted but the bread was removed from the toaster manually using lever mechanism and this was the development before the pop-up toaster.
