Interesting fact : The tentacles have nematocysts thatare extremely venomous and deliver painful stings, killing prey.

Though the Portuguese man o’ war looks like a jellyfish yet it is actually a colony of organisms called zooids. It has translucent tentacles at one end that are tinged blue, purple, pink or mauve. These can be 10-50 metres long and are used continuously for fishing in the water for small fish and shrimps. Their lifespan is one year.
