Sheikh Chilli’s village was once visited by a holy man. The holy man was preaching about praying to God. He told them that God would reward them with a buffalo if they prayed daily. Sheikh who was listening keenly to the holy man longed desperately for a buffalo. But he did not want to be cheated. So, after a deep thought, he asked the holy man whether they would actually get a buffalo or it was a trick. “God is great. Try it for yourself,” was the holy man’s answer. Sheikh started praying several times a day, forgetting to eat at times to everyone’s surprise. A month went by and he looked outside his house for the buffalo. When none came, Sheikh went to the holy man. The holy man said, “I said so, so that you all might start praying religiously. As far as the buffalo is concerned, you will have to buy it.” “You think you fooled me. Well, I didn’t pray either; I just moved my lips. I fooled you, too!” laughed Sheikh foolishly.
