“A hunter was chasing me!” said Dapple, “So I had to run away. I am glad to have found friends like you.” Dapple had also brought some news that he shared with the others. He had heard that Rukmangada, the Prince of Kalinga, was going with his army to defend the borders against enemies. “He is camping on the banks of the Chenab river,” said Dapple, “The hunters say he will be coming towards this lake tomorrow on his way.” This caused all of them a lot of worry and anxiety. If the army came this way, they were all in danger. The hunters would come too, to fetch food for the army. Everyone thought that it would be wiser to move away from there as the place would be unsafe for them. But the wise Nibbles thought that Slow-Toes couldn’t move fast on land. He would be safer in the lake than outside.
