Printing Press

In the year 1440, the German Johannes Gutenberg invented the printing press in the Holy Roman Empire. It was based on the screw press principles that were prevailing back then. Gutenberg was, by profession, merely a goldsmith. However, it was his profound knowledge and experimental skills that helped him develop the complete printing press system. His invention perfected all the stages of the current printing press that we see today, as every new enhancement is an adaptation of Gutenberg’s creation. With the progressing years, the printing press went on emerging with more and more technological advancements. The hand mould device invented by him made rapid and precise creation of metal movable type in huge quantities; this constituted the key element with regards to the profitability of the entire printing enterprise. The printing press later emerged to be used for the newspaper printing that occurred just one slip at a time; it later moved on to printing books and magazines as well.
