Even though pronghorns are often confused to be antelopes yet they do not belong to the antelope family. They have hollow hair and light bones; compared to the size of their bodies, they have large hearts, lungs and windpipes to aid in breathing in large amounts of oxygen while running. They raise a white patch on their rumps when startled, visible from a distance!
