Al-Masjid An-Nabawi, or the Prophet’s Mosque, was built in Medina, Saudi Arabia, in 622. The second mosque built in the history of Islam, Al-Masjid An-Nabawi was originally an open-air building. The dome was added in 1818 and painted green for the first time in 1837. 10 minarets flank the mosque, 105 metres in height. Subtle signs and secrets that carry historical and spiritual significance are hidden throughout the mosque.
Amazing Fact: The famous green dome, for the longest time in history, was actually painted purple-blue!
