Race in the Farmyard

“I am the fastest on the farm,” said Gordon, the horse, “There is no doubt about that!” All the creatures were fed up of Gordon and his boasting. “Why not have a race and prove it?” Suggested the gentle Matilda, the hen, sitting on the perch in the chicken-coop. So, a race was held next Sunday at the farm. Gordon was all set. Bessie, the goat, Ken, the sheepdog, Marigold, the spaniel, Dickie, the donkey, had all decided to compete. At the last moment, there was a ruckus because the birds and the sow, Jenny, also wished to join. The race was chaotic. Some of the animals ran, the birds flew, Jenny rolled along, grumbling, being pushed by the sheep. At the finish line, a fight broke out because Gordon and Ken reached it together! Gordon sulked for one whole day and then everyone became friends again, for they really loved one another!
