Rainbow Tree or Rainbow Eucalyptus or Mindanao Gum or Rainbow Gum grows in the Philippines, New Guinea and Indonesia in tropical forests that get a lot of rain. The tree grows up to 250 ft tall. The most distinctive feature of the tree is its multi-hued bark. The outer bark is shed annually revealing a bright green inner bark. This darkens and matures to give blue, purple, orange and then maroon shades. This showy multi-coloured streaks that cover the trunk are a distinctive landscape design. The Rainbow Tree is better suited to open areas, like parks and fields, where it provides excellent shade as well as fragrance and beauty.
