Rama-Lakshmana Bound in Serpent Arrows

Sugreeva divided the army into four wings and deployed them at the four gates of Lanka. Soon, the army armed with maces, bows and arrows, swords and spears attacked the four gates of Lanka with the announcement of ‘Jai Sri Rama’. At the behest of Ravana, the demon-army too stood its ground on the battlefield.
Indrajeet mounted on a chariot came to the battlefield. He made himself invisible and attacked Rama and Lakshmana and they became unconscious. Considering them dead, he went away. Hearing of the death of Rama and Lakshamana, a wave of joy ran through the demon-army. After treatment, both the brothers gained consciousness.

The next day, Rama and Lakshmana had a fierce battle with Indrajeet. Both the armies were in an upoar. Indrajeet then used naga-pasha (serpent arrows) tying them up. Both the brothers fell unconscious. Indrajeet told Ravana about it and they thought that they had won the battle the very second day. The monkeys felt grieved seeing Rama and Lakshmana lying unconscious. Garuda and serpents are enemies. So, Garuda alone could destroy the serpent arrows. Hanuman brought Garuda who freed Rama and Lakshmana from the serpent arrows.
Ravana sent Dhumraksha to kill them, but Hanuman killed him instead. Ravana’s all brave warriors had been killed. Maddened with fury, Ravana himself arrived at the battlefield in his chariot. Lanka had been facing crisis after crisis since he abducted Seeta. He was determined to do away with the root cause of all those crises.
Both Rama and Ravana faced each other. Ravana caused heavy destruction, and even Angad and Hanuman were unable to check him. Finally, Hanuman carried Rama into the field and there was a fierce battle between Rama and Ravana. Rama destroyed Ravana’s chariot and weapons.

Then Rama noticed that Ravana was tired and he let him stop the battle for the day and leave the field. The next day, Ravana came again, refreshed. Once again, Rama demolished his crown, chariot and weapons. As a result, Ravana was exhausted, and dropped his bow and arrows.
Rama told him that he would not attack an unarmed opponent and asked him to leave. Ashamed, exhausted and frightened, Ravana left the battlefield.
