Raymond

Raymond was an old farmer who lived with his wife. They had no children of their own, so Raymond had to go to the market to sell fruit and vegetables himself. One day, it was snow. Not many people came to the market. Raymond could not sell anything. On his way home, he saw five small children by the side of the road. They wore torn clothes and had no shoes. “Here children! Take the food home to your mother. She’ll cook it. The extra food you can sell to your neighbours,” said Raymond. Then, Raymond went home empty-handed. That night, he and his wife slept troubled. Around midnight, they were woken up by the sound of happy voices singing. The five children wearing straw hats were dancing outside. They were angels in disguise who had come to test Raymond. The next morning, Raymond found a pot of gold at his doorstep.
