Common name : Venezuelan red howler
Scientific name : Alouatta seniculus
Family : Atelidae
Native to : Central and South American forests
Interesting fact : One of the noisiest animals on the planet!
Conservation status : Least Concern
Red howler monkeys have heavily furred long, silky, reddishgold coats and muscular tails. They do not have fur on the end of their tails and on their underside, which helps them to grip tree branches easily; no other monkey has a tail like this. They have naked faces, framed by fur, with protruding muzzles and snub noses. The red howler monkey female gives birth to one offspring every two years.
