Renewable Energy Sources: Renewable energy is the energy that can be replenished. Some of the renewable energy sources are solar energy, wind energy, geothermal (Earth’s natural hot spots) energy and biomass energy. These resources can be utilised to generate electricity. The energy produced by these sources is also termed as non-conventional energy. These resources are also termed as environment-friendly resources because they do not produce any harmful by-products such as smoke, chemicals, etc.
Solar Power: The sun has been radiating an enormous amount of energy for billions of years. But only a very small part of it reaches the outer layer of the Earth’s atmosphere. The heat energy of the sun that reaches the Earth’s surface can be harnessed and converted into electricity. There are various equipment which help utilise solar energy, such as solar heaters (heating water), solar cookers (cooking food), solar dryers (drying grains and clothes) and solar lightings.
