Ribbon eels are found in lagoons or coastal reefs. Their long, thin bodies have broad dorsal and anal fins giving them a ribbon-like appearance. Their leaf-like nostril flaps sense vibrations in the water. Adult males are blue with yellow dorsal fins while yellow females have black anal fins. They feed on small fish and other marine creatures.
