Interesting fact : This insect is known as the rose chafer because of its diet, which amongst other things includes prominently and predominantly, the rose plant.
20 mm in length, the rose chafer has a V-shaped area between the wing cases. They fly with their wing cases down and can achieve great speed. Their colouring is metallic copper, bronze, violent, grey or blue-green. Females lay the eggs in decaying organic matter. Its diet as an adult is comprised of pollen, nectar and flowers, specifically roses. The larvae of the rose chafer feed on compost, rotting wood, manure and leaf mould.
