Sacagawea was born in May 1788 in the Shoshone tribe, United States, and she died on 20th December 1812 (aged 24 years). As the interpreter and guide for Lewis and Clark Expedition Sacagawea travelled with them through the entire journey to explore Louisiana with her infant tied to her back. Her aide to the expedition was unparalleled as she helped to keep peace and trade with different tribes. At the age of 13, Sacagawea was sold into a non-consensual ‘marriage’ to Toussaint Charbonneau, a Quebecois trapper living in the village.
