Sajama Lines are a network of thousands of perfectly straight lines in Western Bolivia. They are the world’s largest work of art. Each line is created by scraping aside vegetation and top soil and oxidized rock, exposing the lighter subsurface material. It is a marvel to have created lines with such precision without the use of modern technology. They are an astonishing 16,000 km in length, and cover an area of 22,525 sq.km carved into the Earth as early as 3,000 years ago. The motivation for their construction is not understood, but it is a stunning spectacle to view from vantage points above hilltops.
