Salzburg Cube, also known as the Wolfsegg Iron, is an ancient artifact found encased in lignite, mined during 1885 in Austria. It has four flat sides and two convex ones. There is a groove all the way round, midway to its height. It has various pits and craters on its surface. It was identified by scientists as a meteoric origin but later ruled out by analysis. But the coal it was embedded in dates about 60 million years back. It disappeared in early 1900s from Salzburg Museum and reappeared later at Heimathaus Museum. Its origin continues to remain a mystery which is yet to be unravelled.
