The shark has a hammer on its head with the eyes and nostrils on its extended tips. It has a slim, brown-grey to bronze body with a white belly. They grow 370-430 cm long and weigh up to 152 kg. They feed on fish, squids and octopuses. They give birth to 15-30 live young ones after 9-10 months of gestation. Their lifespan is 30 years.
