The first scanner invented to make use of with a system is drum scanner. This first copy drum scanner was invented by Russell Kirsch and his team in 1957 at the US National Bureau of Standards. The first actual scanner was invented by Rudolph Hell in the year 1963. Through this scanner, he was able to input colour imagery into the computer.
In previous scanners, telephotography was used. Thereafter in 1913, the inventor Edouard Belin worked to improve the technology used in the scanner and came up with its improved version. After a continuous evolution, scanners have become very useful devices to input images into the computer. Presently there are many high-resolution output scanners. In the 1980s, different versions of scanners came that includes sheet-fed scanners and flatbed scanners. Earlier, scanners were capable of producing black-and-white images. But, with the development in technology, different scanners are invented which are capable of producing coloured images as well.
