Secret lines (Amazing Science Games and Experiments)

Materials Required:

1. A glass of water
2. Food colour (blue)
3. Fresh stems with leaves

Procedure:

1. Make dark-coloured water by mixing blue food colour into the water.
2. Now, put the stems with leaves in water undisturbed for sometime.
3. After sometime you will notice that the coloured lines are moving in the stems of the leaves.

This is what happens:

The capillaries are filled with water. This water reaches the leaves through stems and branches. When you dip the stems into water, then it goes into the capecraines from the roots. And you see the coloured lines that is actually the way of water.
