The Sagittarius serpentarius (scientific name) or secretarybird is found mostly in grasslands and Sub-Saharan regions of Africa. With a height of 4 feet, this bird is identifiable because of its body type, which is similar to that of an eagle, but on the legs of a crane. The flight feathers and thigh plumage are black. And the coverts, head, neck are all grey or white. The face is a featherless bright orange colour and it has a long flat back central tail and feathers lower back on the head. They are birds of prey, which eat insects and mammals, from mice to tortoises. An average clutch has 2-3 eggs incubated by the female for 45 days. Its IUCN listing is VULNERABLE.
