Selling a Cat

One day, Sheikh asked his mother to give him some money, as he wanted to go to Delhi for a job. His mother refused to give him any money. Upset Sheikh went to meet Lallan and asked him to lend him some money. Lallan said, “Sheikh, I have one cat; you can sell it in a place named ‘Billimaran’ (meaning killing a cat) in Delhi and get good money for it. And you had better walk down to Delhi, instead of wasting money in transport.” Sheikh believed Lallan and reached Delhi with a cat. He started looking for Billimaran. Seeing Sheikh in such a confused state, a passer-by asked him his problem. Sheikh told him, “Bhaijaan, I am looking for a place named Billimaran, as I am told that people sell their cats there for good money.” Hearing this, the man laughed and told Sheikh that he had been fooled. There was no place named Billimaran in Delhi; rather it was called Ballimaran, and no one bought cats there.
