Lakshmana revived and immediately asked for Indrajeet. He was determined to destroy the son of Ravana. Indrajeet was trying to perform a sacrifice that would make him unconquerable. But the monkeys came to know of it and interrupted it making it fail. Enraged, Indrajeet returned to the battlefield to finish Lakshmana who was waiting for him. The two warriors were equally matched. After sometime, Lakshmana prayed to Sri Rama and used the indrastra against Indrajeet. Indrajeet was beheaded and fell dead on the battlefield. Rama rushed to care for his wounded brother. His death was a severe blow to Ravana. Maddened with rage and grief, he believed that Seeta was the cause of all his suffering. He unsheathed his sword and would have rushed off immediately to kill her, had he not been stopped by Suparshva, a wise minister, who advised him not to add to his shame and sins.
