Mittens and Snowball were little cats. Mittens loved cleanliness
while Snowball littered everywhere.
“Snowball, throw this banana peel in the waste bin!” shouted Mittens angrily.
But Snowball threw the banana peel on the floor. This angered Mittens.
Snowball used to do this all the time. And Mittens, being a cleanliness freak,
did not like this at all.
One day, Mittens and Snowball went to the park. They had a nice time there.
Both had ice creams. While Mittens threw the ice cream wrapper in the waste bin,
Snowball threw it on the ground.
As usual, Mittens got very angry. She picked the wrapper up
herself and put it in the bin.
Days passed by. Snowball kept littering, thereby, making Mittens mad.
Mittens wanted to teach Snowball a lesson.
One day, Mittens had an idea. She collected some litter.
Then, she went to Snowball’s house and threw the litter in her room.
Snowball was too shocked to say anything at first. Then, she ran towards Mittens.
She was furious and screamed, “Have you lost your mind?
What are you doing?”
She continued, “You are dirtying my room. I did not expect this from you at all.”
But, Mittens only smiled.
Mittens said, “Well, my friend! Do you not do the same thing every day but at other places?”
Mittens continued, “If everyone were to throw litter like this, the world would become very dirty.”
Snowball finally realised that what Mittens was saying made sense.
She promised Mittens that she would always throw litter in the waste bin.
To test Snowball, Mittens, one day, threw a candy wrapper on the floor.
Snowball immediately picked the wrapper up and put it in the bin. She had indeed changed.
Moral : We should always keep the environment clean.
