Solway Firth Spaceman

In 1964, a Carlisle fireman took a photo of his daughter on Burgh Marsh. The chemist who processed the pictures pointed out that the shot had been spoiled by a figure in the background. Mr Jim Templeton, the photographer, was shocked to see a mysterious figure wearing something like a spacesuit in the frame looked like a Solway Firth Spaceman. This news was picked up by the local paper and then carried on to Daily Mail and Express. It got weirder as people spoke of it as supernatural. The story was debunked and it was explained that it was most likely the mother standing behind the girl and was out of focus giving a cloudy picture.
