The Batrachostomus moniliger (scientific name) or Sri Lankan frog mouth is a nocturnal bird found in the forests of Western Ghats in South India and Sri Lanka. 9.1 inches in length, the plumage colouration of this frog mouth is a mixture of brown, ochre and rust. It is spotted and textured in such a way that is resembles dried leaves or a tree-branch. In fact since it sits absolutely still and quietly on trees, it is extremely hard to spot. Its diet is comprised mostly of insects which it catches in flight after gleaning them from a branch. The clutch-size is one single egg which is incubated by the male in the day and female in the night. Its IUCN listing is the LEAST CONCERN.
