STAINLESS CLOTH (Amazing Science Games and Experiments)

Materials Required:

  1. Candle
  2. Match box
  3. Cotton cloth
  4. One coin
  5. One pencil

Procedure:

  1. Take a coin and tightly cover around it a piece of cloth as shown in the illustration.
  2. Now, light the candle and heat the blunt point of a pencil by putting it on the flame of a candle.
  3. Then, place the inflamed tip of the pencil onto the cloth of the coin and after sometime remove the pencil.
  4. You will be surprised to see that the cloth doesn’t get burnt in spite of being contact with the inflamed pencil.

This is what happens:

It is possible because the coin is the good conductor of heat and the pencil is the bad conductor of heat because of its opposite qualities.
That’s why the coin which is inside the cloth fastly catches the heat of the pencil that passes through the cloth so that the cloth may not get burnt.
