Sunday Sparks

Farmer Sutton and his wife always had a barbeque in summer and invited everyone to it. So, as usual, all their neighbours and friends were to come that Sunday evening. “I hope Mrs Foulk doesn’t create a scene!” said Mrs Sutton, “She always finds something to complain about!” It was a delightful party and everyone enjoyed himself. The tables were set up outside in the garden and the breeze was cool. Mr and Mrs Sutton looked after their guests well and some of them helped too. Mr Foulk was happily telling all his well-known jokes and enjoying himself. Suddenly Mrs Foulk’s voice rang out, “Oh, dear! My dress is ruined! And it’s new!” Mrs Foulk had stood near the barbeque and a spark flew out and fell on her dress. There was a tiny hole burnt on it. She began to weep and moan. “Well, now the party’s complete!” said Mr Foulk and everyone burst out laughing!
