Sven Anders Hedin was born on 19th February 1865 in Stockholm, Sweden, and he died on 26th November 1952 (aged 87 years) in Stockholm, Sweden. A Swedish explorer, writer and topographer, Sven is noted for locating the sources of the Brahmaputra, Indus and Sutlej Rivers. He made daring expeditions into Central Asia where he mapped and explored the parts of China and Tibet. His notes were valuable in the accurate mapping of Central Asia. He conducted a Trans-Himalayan expedition and was the first European to reach the sacred Lake Mansarovar and Mount Kailash.
