Michael loved to tell tall stories to everyone. “They’re just stories!” he would say, “They’re not lies.” One day Mr Felton, a large man, had come from the bank to meet his father, Farmer Strobes, about a loan to buy four more cows. He went round the farm to inspect it. Michael followed them. When his father went in to fetch some papers, Michael said, “Do you know all our cows died?” Mr Felton looked worried. How could he give a loan if the Farmer Strobes didn’t look after the cows? When Mr Strobes came with the papers, Mr Felton asked, “What happened to your cows?” “They’re grazing in the meadow,” Mr Strobes said. “Are they alive?” asked Mr Felton. “Of course, they’re alive!” said Mr Strobes, astonished. Then Mr Strobes asked, “Did Michael say something?” “Er…..yes, he did,” replied Mr Felton. Mr Strobes glared at Michael and took Mr Felton to see his cows!
