The teardrop pufferfish is a bright yellow and white fish with a tearing eyespot on the upper part of the body. They live in small groups, growing to 20 cm in length. It feeds on soft and hard corals, polychaetes, small crustaceans and filamentous algae. They are oviparous and form pairs during breeding. Lifespan is 5-7 years.
