Temperate forests are the regions experiencing high level of rainfall, humidity and snowfall (between 20-60 inches per year). They are located approximately 25° and 50° latitude in both hemispheres. These forests are known for their wide range of temperatures [from hot in summer (about 30°C) to extremely cold in winter (about –30°C)]. This climatic feature makes them different from other types of forests. Temperate forests have thick soil humus, which supports a wide range of plant life and wild life. A variety of deciduous trees are found in this region. Animals of temperate forests are adapted to the cold and lack of food in winter. These forests are located in Eastern Asia, part of Russia, Central and Western Europe and Eastern United States.
Deciduous Trees: The trees which change their leaf colour in autumn and shed leaves in winter.
