Soon, Rama and Lakshmana along with the entire monkey-army reached the shore of the ocean at Mount Mahendra. There, they discussed how they were to go across the ocean. Rama was also worried for this reason. They had no clue as to how to cross over the mighty ocean that lay ahead.
The arrival of Rama, Lakshmana and Sugreeva, along with the monkey-army, caused panic in Lanka. Ravana’s ministers spoke only flattering words to please Ravana. But Vibheeshana, his brother, did not agree to their viewpoints and spoke the words of wisdom to point out right conduct to him.

“We have done wrong by taking away Rama’s wife. Ever since she came here, we have seen bad omens and Lanka has been burnt down. Return Seeta to her husband. The welfare of one and all lies in it alone,” pleaded Vibheeshana. All the ministers and the courties made fun of Vibheeshana. Even Ravana did not pay any heed to his advice.
