One day, Kandarpaketu stayed in a cowherd’s house. He heard his wife talking to the barber’s wife who was not a good woman. The cowherd had told his wife to keep away from the barber’s wife. So when he heard her talking to the barber’s wife, he was very angry. He scolded his wife and tied her to a pillar in the cow-shed. At night, the barber’s wife quietly came there and set the cowherd’s wife free to go to her lover. It was dark in the cow-shed, so in her place, she got herself tied to the pillar. The cowherd would only see a female tied in the shed and wouldn’t know that his wife had gone out. The cowherd heard them whispering, and thinking that his wife was being disobedient again, he went into the dark cow-shed and cut off her nose!
