Ravana stationed his generals and warriors where they could defend Lanka against the attacks of the enemy. He tried to destroy Seeta’s confidence in Rama so that Rama might be defeated before the actual battle and thus Seeta might become his queen.
Rama’s severed head was shown to Seeta. Frightened, she wept, but soon she heard war drums and knew that it was Ravana’s trick. Preparations for the war had been completed. Sugreeva having mounted a rock was examining the arrangements of his army. All of a sudden, he saw Ravana who was peeping through a balcony in Lanka. Sugreeva leapt on Ravana, shouting, “I am Rama’s friend and servant! I will destroy you today!”
There ensued a fierce battle between them but neither could defeat the other. Tired out, Ravana used magic and harmed Sugreeva. The terribly wounded Sugreeva jumped back to his troops. Rama saw his impulsive action and was so touched that he hugged Sugreeva and requested him not to repeat it. They all sat together and discussed the impending battle. Vibheeshana gave them all information about the city of Lanka. This helped them a lot to formulate strategies for the war.
