The Boar’s Tusks

Once in a forest far away, there lived a Boar. All Boars have two tusks that help them protect themselves. Usually, Boars use their tusks to fight with hunters as they are their biggest enemies.
For years, many hunters have gone to the forest and caught Boars. They then bring them to the village and make a delicious meal by roasting them.
This Boar decided to stay at guard and be prepared to fight any enemy.
No animal in the forest came close to the Boar or angered him. He was always ready to fight.
Every day, he would stand next to one tree or the other and sharpen his tusks. This made a loud sound and everyone in the forest could hear it. It sounded as if someone was cutting a tree.
One afternoon, after having his meal, the Boar went again to the tree to sharpen his tusks. A Fox on his way back home passed the Boar and looked at what the Boar was doing. He realised that the Boar was preparing for a mighty war.

As the Fox looked around, he could not see any hunter. He wondered, ‘why was the Boar sharpening his tusks where there are no hunters in sight?’
The Fox could not contain his curiosity and asked the Boar, “Dear Brother Boar, why are you sharpening your tusks? Are there any hunters in the forest? Should we all be careful?”
At first, the Boar did not reply. But the inquisitive Fox would not move without an answer from the Boar. The Boar finally stopped his task and looked at the Fox.

“Do you think the hunters will tell us before they come? If we are not prepared at all times, we will be killed instantly. That is why I always keep my tusks sharpened. Who knows when we will have to get into a fight?” the Boar said and he started sharpening his pointed tusks again.
