Once, a rabbit lived in the hole of a tree. All his friends and relatives had become very agitated with his behaviour of boasting that he knew and could perform every task. So an otter decided to teach a lesson to him. The otter met the boastful rabbit at the bank of the river where he had gone to catch ducks. The rabbit boasted that he could catch ducks as well. The otter was not surprised because he knew that the rabbit was lying. The otter quickly went to the river and began his search. The rabbit in the meantime gathered a pole and tied a noose to it, thinking that ducks would get caught that way.
He dived into the water with it and waited for the ducks to arrive. Suddenly, out flew a duck with the pole and the rabbit hanging from the noose. The duck shook the pole vigorously, forcing the rabbit to jump on the ground. The otter popped his head out and started laughing at the rabbit saying, “So that’s how you catch ducks!” The rabbit scampered away with the broken limbs and was never heard boasting again.
