The Boy and the Thieves

Once there were seven thieves who went about stealing to make a living. They saw a small orphaned boy who was loitering about. They asked him if he would join them so that he might have good food. The boy agreed and the thieves took him along. They entered a garden of walnut trees and asked one another who the thinnest of all was. Finally, they decided that the orphaned boy was the thinnest who would climb the tree. They asked the boy to climb up the tree and start shaking the branches one by one so that the walnuts might fall on the ground and then he could have his share from them after climbing down. As the boy started shaking the branches, lots of walnuts fell which were eaten by the thieves. Just then the owner of the garden appeared and asked them about the walnuts. The thieves told him that the boy on the tree told them that he was the master of the garden and that he would give them walnuts to eat. The boy heard this and cried out that the thieves were telling a lie. But the owner did not believe in what the boy told him and punished him.
