Mother Cat lived with her daughter Pussy in a hole under a tree. Mother and daughter used to play together. One day, Mother Cat decided to teach her daughter to climb up the tree. Mother Cat said, “Climbing up trees is fun. Watch me, Pussy.” She leapt up the tree. Pussy tried to run too, but could not. She cried, “I cannot, Mother.” Mother Cat said, “You will. Do not worry. You can do anything you want to do. See that little puppy over there. He is trying to walk.” “But he cannot even stand up,” said Pussy. “Keep watching,” said Mother Cat, “See now he is running.” Pussy was greatly encouraged. She quickly climbed up the tree. Mother was very happy and clapped for Pussy. Pussy was elated too! After that Pussy became an expert in climbing up trees. She became a better climber than her mother.
