The Brown family had come to spend their vacation by the seaside. Early morning, Mr. Brown, his daughter and their dog set off for a walk along the beach. Many seagulls were flying there. The dog saw the gulls and leapt after them. The gulls flew away but returned after a while. Mr. Brown’s daughter asked him, “What do they like to eat?” Mr. Brown replied, “They eat crabs, shrimps, mussels and so on.” His daughter said, “I will give them some bread. I hope they will like it.” So, she broke the bread into small bits and scattered them for the birds to eat. The birds came immediately and started eating the bread. But they made so much of noise that the daughter got scared and clung to Mr. Brown which made him laugh and remark, “The gulls are indeed hungry today!”
